5th ISA Forum of Sociology - African Great Lakes Region Diaspora in Brussels (Belgium) and the Transnational Urban Trans

Held for the first time in the MENA region, the Forum takes place in Rabat, Morocco, from July 6 to 11, 2025, at Mohammed V University. This edition invites us to reflect on Knowing Justice in the Anthropocene through intense academic exchange and public engagement. Under the panel “Fortunes of (Post-)Multi-Ethnic Cities,” Karen Büscher presented her research titled: “African Great Lakes Region Diaspora in Brussels (Belgium) and the Transnational Urban Translation of Violent Conflict and Ethnic Tension.” Her research is part of a larger collaborative project with Luce Beeckmans (KU Leuven) on Transnational Warscapes, funded by FWO.
